This show proves that the worlds of humans and animation can merge in a supernatural way, but how close is it to reality? With that being said, here is a list of key facts from The Amazing World of Gumball.
One episode of The Amazing World of Gumball is enough to conclude that Elmore isn't just weird. Although the show is far from reality, the creators based the scenes on real locations in America. But before I reveal exactly where Elmore is, let me briefly describe the location.
The city has many interesting places, including its own cinema, park, gas station, shopping mall, hospital, and high school; we'll talk about that later. But with all these establishments in mind, Elmore is considered a relatively small town. In fact, it is speculated that its population is around 20,000 inhabitants. With that being said, Elmore is generally based in Vallejo, California. We say "average" because the school and other buildings were observed to be very similar to those in San Francisco.
Let's move on to the first character on this list: Gumball. At first glance, it's hard to tell what kind of animal Gumball is. Is he a cat? or a dog? Maybe both? Well, that twelve-year-old was supposed to be a blue dog. The creators even came up with the idea of Gumball as a black cat. Finally, they all decided that the character would be a blue cat.
While there are some blue cats in our world, the closest thing to a Gumball is the Chartreux breed. Chartreux cats are known as very calm animals with slightly pointed ears and round heads. And you should know that being quiet is not a Gumball trait. However, Chartreux and Gumball cats are sociable, goofy and playful.
Darwin Watson's full name is quite funny and a tongue twister. But let me introduce for your entertainment: Darwin Raglan Lehigh Ahab Poseidon Nicodemus Watson III. Your parents probably hate you for making life so miserable. Can you imagine how long it took him to fill out the form? Anyway, Darwin is Gumball's adoptive brother. He is a gold fish. Yes, he is a little orange fish with long arms and legs.
While real-life goldfish can't walk on two feet, they can do more impressive things. Did you know that these creatures can see more colors than humans? In fact, they can see ultraviolet light. Thats not all! Goldfish have a sixth sense, which allows them to recognize changes in the flow and vibration of water. However, Darwin and the real goldfish brought joy to the people. Do you have pet goldfish?
This place is much like any other high school, complete with cheerleaders and marching band. The school also features a ton of characters, including Gumball's love interest. Elmore High School's look is based on Abraham Lincoln High School in San Francisco. When comparing the two versions side by side, we think the main difference is the pink and blue. The creators have done a good job of keeping this accurate.
Richard was not a good role model for his three children. He has no sense of responsibility. Well, to put it bluntly, he also lacks common sense. But that does not mean that he neglected his wife and his children. Richard loves his family very much.
Unlike the previous characters, you can immediately tell what animal this character is. It's hard to go wrong with Richard. Yes, he actually is a pink bunny. Round with long ears, the character walks around in a gala uniform, even though he is unemployed. Rabbits have long ears and sharp front teeth, just as Richard sees them. They are also playful pack animals. Do you think Richard also has these qualities?
Another recurring location on the show, this is the house where the main characters live. The house was originally green, eventually turning light blue after Richard painted it. The Wattersons' home is at 1026 York Street in Vallejo, California. If you visit the house in person, you will see how similar the real house is to the programmed version. Cold!
Although she is in a peanut shell for most of the episodes, Penny is actually a shape-shifting fairy. Apparently, she can transform into different creatures depending on her mood. This was revealed in an episode called "The Shell". Soft-spoken and sweet, Penny is a member of the school's cheerleading squad.
Addison Wells from Disney's Zombies was also a cheerleader at Stranger High School. The character, played by Meg Donnelly, is very likeable. Like Petunia, Addison has integrity and refuses to let her friend be treated badly. A walking peanut or a shape-shifting fairy may not be real. But, Meg Donnelly should still be the character's perfect real-life counterpart. what do you think?
Let's talk about cars. The main and most used family car for Wattersons is the Cartax. The car resembles a 1977 Ford Pinto, but with a slightly rectangular exterior. Unfortunately, this beautiful car often breaks down, but considering the behavior of the characters, this is not surprising.
Another familiar vehicle used in the series is the minivan, which first appears in the episode titled "DVD". The car was often driven by Gamble's mother, Nicole. Take a closer look at this minivan and you'll see that it's almost identical to the 1984–1986 Dodge Caravan.
The next character we will talk about is the main antagonist of the show. Rob, a former student of Elmore Junior High, is now Gumball's nemesis. Delgado, the character used to be a cyclops. He later became a two-dimensional character with long hair that covers almost half of his face.
As Cyclops, Rob can be compared to actor Will Poulter, best known for his portrayal of Eustace Scrubb in The Chronicles of Narnia. We think the main similarity is the shape of his eyebrows when he frowns. Also, he does a good job as the main antagonist of the maze runner.
On the other hand, a later version of Rob closely resembles Nick Robinson's character as Ollie Bright in the movie Everything, Everything. It was his black eyes that led me to this conclusion. Can you think of any other real versions of 2 Robs?
The Amazing World of Gumball launched the spin-off series "Darwin's Almanac", a total of six episodes. The spin-off is mostly a collection of other events that took place in the previous episodes, with each episode focusing on a different character. The first episode is about Banana Joe, then Clayton, then Carrie. If you want to meet other characters in the series, check it out for yourself.
